when things go wrong, as they sometimes will...in other words, when you find yourself in (semi) deep sh*t...don't you just wish you could do things at your own pace and time? to not have any care? to just forget about the world?

The more I am pushed to do something I a not in the mood for, the more I want to withdraw.

Lately, I have realized that knocking yourself out to get something done is generally not worth it. Just do a reasonably good job and let people give you feedback on it. For example, whenever I have to write documents at work, I just quickly dash something off and hand it over. Then I wait for feedback. Sometimes it is good enough, sometimes it is not even close to what they want, but ... I have saved myself al ot of stress by not sweating over it.

Another example: I used to agonize for hours trying to buy the perfect birthday card or gift. Now, I am much faster, I get the first thing that it "good enough". Believe it or not, most people won't notice the difference between a blue sweater you picked out for them in 10 minutes or one it took you 3 hours to find because you needed that just so perfect shade and cut.

Take it easy, get whatever needs to be done done and then come back and brighten our day with your glorious smile.
