wow.
53 3/4 hotdogs in 12 minutes for this year's Independence Day hotdog eating competition in Coney Island, NY.
should i say congratulations Japan? or perhaps, well done Takeru Kobayashi (whose stomach in the picture looks like that of a turtle's, by the way)?
erm, maybe not.
excuse me, i feel like throwing up.
but before that...is nathan's famous hotdog delicious?
darn, that didn't come out right.

i actually watched it on tv yesterday. kobayashi is my hero... the new american dude was really close at 52! he's only 170 lbs!

Nathan hotdogs taste about the same as our local Purefood version -- they can fill the spot, so to speak, when starved. However, rule of thumb amongst NY folks: eat but don't ask what's inside of it, or where they come from. :)
BTW, a typical hotdog vendor on the streets of NY who brave the elements could earn as much as $30,000.00 a year. -

The great Kobayashi wins again! I was there to see it too and it was a good show (even though my view of the eaters was limited). Incredible amounts of energy in the crowd.
It's bizarre how passionate Koby's fans are for him. I experienced it firsthand after the contest. Crazy, crazy stuff. -
